Bus Stop Outside An Open Window
After a long day of work I walked up four flights of stairs and finally reached my door. I was so tired I could barley put the key in the lock. When the door opened I dropped my bags and went straight to my room to lie down. It was completely silent and just as my eyes closed to fall asleep, a loud bus pulled up right in front of my house. I woke up to check out the bus and people watch. I looked out the window; I could hear the young teens talk about their plans for their Friday night that consisted of drinking and partying. Out of the group of teens I saw a wallet fall out of someone’s pocket and hit the ground. No kid was sober enough to even realize fell out. When the kid went to pay for the bus the driver wouldn’t let him on. I knew I had to do something about it, but I was so tired from work. I let out a sigh and I quickly made up the courage to run down the four flights of stairs. I squeezed through the doors just as they were closing and handed the young man his wallet.
I skipped the drunken thank you and just walked out of the bus. But when the bus rolled by my jaw dropped, and looked in the far back window and I saw the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. She gave me one of those looks where it looked like she was looking at me, but you couldn’t really tell. She had to have been looking at me. I had to see her again, but how could I? I tried chasing the bus down, but it was already too far ahead. Even if I did catch it what would I say? I slowly walked up my stairs and schemed about how I could see her again. I lay on my bed and thought about it some more. Then it hit me. Every Friday I would ride the bus at that exact time in hopes that she rides it around the same time as that night.
Friday after Friday I rode the bus, but never saw her. It got to the point that I forgot what I was even riding the bus for. I would picture her face, and tell myself I would ride the bus just one more time. The dream started to fade; the odds of me ever seeing her again were very slim. I started driving again. On my way home from work on a Friday my car broke down. I was able to push the car into parking lot and let it stay over night. I hopped on the bus to get home and there was one open seat in the back next to the beautiful girl.
